Mairin Hynes

Mairin graduated from St. Louis University in 2003 with a B.A. in physics and history and a minor in mathematics. Her undergraduate research consisted of experimental research on supersonic parachutes.

Research Interests

At present, Mairin is working with Drs. Tom Bernatowicz and Kevin Croat on TEM studies of presolar SiC X-grains. These grains come from supernovae and comprise only about 1% of the SiC population. Little is currently known about their crystallographic structure and about any possible subgrains that they may contain.
