Laboratory for Space Sciences (Title)

Welcome! We are an interdisciplinary research group for the laboratory analysis of extraterrestrial materials.

Our group is part of the Physics Department, the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, and the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences.

For a general introduction, visit our "Find Out What We Do and Why" page.
Or follow the links below directly to more detailed information.

Research

To learn about our work, visit our Main Research Page for an overview or follow the links there for a more detailed look at individual projects. Find out what we can learn about the history and origin of the solar system as well as the chemical elements and the stars that produce them from detailed isotopic, trace element and noble gas studies of meteorites, presolar grains and interplanetary dust particles (IDPs).

In connection with our research, we also describe the methods and instruments we use in our laboratory. They include techniques like secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), noble gas mass spectrometry, thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) and Auger spectroscopy.

Publications

Many of our group's recent publications are available online from this site. Visit our Publications Page for pdf versions of papers and conference contributions.

News

Our News Page contains a variety of information concerning our laboratory, photos from recent conferences and miscellaneous other items.

People

To get to know the members of our group visit our People Page with names, phone numbers, email addresses and links to personal research pages.

You can also see who has been with our group in earlier years and what these people are doing now by visiting our Alumni Page.

Join Us

You can join us as a graduate student! We have exciting opportunities in the laboratory analysis of extraterrestrial material for both Physics and Earth Science students. Visit our Graduate Opportunities Page for more details. There you can find information on what kinds of financial aids (fellowships, assistantships) are available, how to start an application to graduate school and how to contact us if you have any questions.
